| Module objectives/intended learning outcomes | After participating in lectures using student-centered learning models and methods, students will be able to analyze the concepts of dynamic equilibrium, equilibrium constants, factors affecting chemical equilibrium, and the thermodynamics of chemical equilibrium. After participating in lectures using student-centered learning models and methods, students will be able to understand the concepts of phase equilibrium, phase rules, components, degrees of freedom, and phase diagrams.Through discussions and analyses of the Clapeyron and Clausius-Clapeyron equations, students will be able to formulate and calculate the relationship between pressure and temperature in single- or two-component liquid systems, as well as apply this knowledge in calculating the colligative properties of solutions and the boiling point of water at various altitudes above sea level. |
| Content | This course covers the study of chemical equilibrium (dynamic equilibrium, equilibrium constants, factors affecting chemical equilibrium, equilibrium shifts, and equilibrium thermodynamics) and phase equilibrium (phases, components, degrees of freedom, and the Clapeyron and Clausius-Clapeyron equations). |
