Module objectives/intended learning outcomesAfter actively participating in the lectures (C), students (A) are able to analyze (B)  bond-breaking and bond-forming processes in organic compounds based on the mechanisms of oxidation, reduction, and radical reactions (C4), thereby enabling them to construct the reaction mechanisms of various organic compounds (P2) to clearly illustrate each reaction step accurately (D, A3).After actively participating in the lectures (C), students (A) are able to analyze (B) bond-breaking and bond-forming processes in organic compounds based on the mechanisms of electrophilic and nucleophilic substitution reactions (C4), thereby enabling them to construct the reaction mechanisms of various organic compounds (P2) to clearly illustrate each reaction step accurately (D, A3).After actively participating in the lectures (C), students (A) are able to analyze (B) bond-breaking and bond-forming processes in organic compounds based on the mechanisms of elimination, addition, and pericyclic reactions (C4), thereby enabling them to construct the reaction mechanisms of various organic compounds (P2) to clearly illustrate each reaction step accurately (D, A3).
ContentThis course provides an in-depth study of bond-breaking and bond-forming processes in organic compounds, focusing on the reaction mechanisms of various organic transformations. The topics include oxidation and reduction reactions; electrophilic substitution in aliphatic, cyclic, and aromatic systems; nucleophilic substitution in aromatic compounds; unimolecular (SN1) and bimolecular (SN2) nucleophilic substitutions; elimination reactions; radical reactions; addition reactions; and pericyclic reactions. Emphasis is placed on understanding and constructing detailed reaction mechanisms throughout the course.
