| Module objectives/intended learning outcomes | After actively participating in the practicum activities (C), students (A) are able to conclude the presence of carbon and hydrogen elements in organic compounds, functional groups such as alkenes, alkyl halides, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, aromatic compounds (phenols), amines, as well as the applications of simple organic compound reactions and molecular configurations (B, C6), through carefully and thoroughly conducted practicum activities, thereby being able to apply them (P4) to verify them accurately (D, A4).After actively participating in the practicum activities (C), students (A) are able to conclude the presence of alkaloids, terpenoids, steroids, flavonoids, and saponins, as well as the application of extraction, distillation, and chromatography methods (B, C6), through practicum activities using organoleptic methods and phytochemical screening carried out carefully and thoroughly, thereby being able to apply them (P4) to verify them accurately (D, A4). |
| Content | This course provides an in-depth study of methods for identifying carbon and hydrogen elements in organic compounds, functional groups such as alkenes, alkyl halides, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, phenols, aromatic compounds, and amines, as well as the applications of simple organic reactions. It also covers the identification of alkaloids, terpenoids, steroids, flavonoids, and saponins, along with the molecular configurations of organic compounds. Furthermore, students will learn to isolate organic compounds through practicum activities using extraction, distillation, and chromatography methods. |
