Module objectives/intended learning outcomesAfter actively participating in the course (C), students (A) are expected to accurately analyze (B, C4) the characteristics of each class of difunctional and polyfunctional organic compounds, thereby developing (P4) the skills to utilize these compounds by selecting (A4) appropriate reactions based on their structural groups independently, accurately, and in a measurable manner (D). After actively participating in the course (C), students (A) will be able to accurately analyze (B, C4) the characteristics of various classes of compounds, including bicyclic, polycyclic, heterocyclic, and heteroaromatic compounds. They will also be able to develop (P4) the skills required to utilize these compounds by independently, appropriately, and measurably selecting (A4) relevant reactions based on compound classification and structural features (D).After actively participating in the course (C), students (A) will be able to accurately analyze (B, C4) the characteristics of each class of biomolecular compounds. Furthermore, they will be able to develop (P4) the skills to utilize these compounds by independently, appropriately, and measurably selecting (A4) relevant chemical reactions based on the structural classification of the compounds (D).
ContentThis course is designed to strengthen students’ understanding of difunctional and polyfunctional compounds, focusing on their structures, nomenclature, properties, and applications. It also covers biomolecular compounds, including their structures, classification, nomenclature, properties, detection methods, and functions. Additionally, the course explores bicyclic, polycyclic, heterocyclic, and heteroaromatic compounds, emphasizing their structures, classification, nomenclature, properties, and applications. The course supports the development of students’ analytical and application skills relevant to organic compound characterization and utilization, aligned with outcome-based learning.
