| Content | This course is offered to all first-year students at Syiah Kuala University to develop their understanding of the concepts of Listening, Reading, and language components, particularly Structure and Written Expression. The course content is divided into several indicators through which students are expected to identify, evaluate, and analyze: (a) general listening strategies, negative-related expressions, and expressions of wishes and unreal conditions; (b) topic and question prediction in long conversations and long talks; (c) parts of speech (verbs, nouns, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, and prepositions); (d) present and past participles; (e) gerunds and to-infinitives; (f) subject-verb inversion; (g) main ideas;(h) stated details; (i) unstated details; (j) implied questions; and (k) location of information. |
