Module objectives/intended learning outcomesAfter actively participating in the lectures (C), students (A) are able to conclude the basic grouping of secondary metabolites based on their structure, classification, nomenclature, uses, and sources (B, C5), thereby being able to apply this knowledge (P4) to classify them accurately (D, A4).After actively participating in the lectures (C), students (A) are able to conclude secondary metabolites based on their biosynthetic pathways, identification and isolation methods, as well as bioassay tests (B, C6), thereby being able to apply this knowledge (P4) to verify them accurately (D, A5).
ContentThis course provides an in-depth study and strengthens understanding of secondary metabolites, including terpenoids, steroids, polyketides, phenylpropanoids, flavonoids, and alkaloids. It covers their structure, classification, nomenclature, uses, sources, biosynthetic pathways, methods of identification and isolation, as well as bioassay testing.
